This technology is implemented through the use of hydraulic hammers, which are located at the top of the drill string. In the case of percussive-rotary drilling with an upper hammer, the tool is fed with force into the soil and simultaneously rotated. The flushing fluid is pumped through the inner cavity of the drill rods, and it is pushed into the wellhead along with the weakened drill cuttings.

Percussive-rotary drilling is indispensable when working in hard soils.
